A few months ago I bought a bike after 30 years of not riding. I bought a VT750 Aero and after 4000 miles I am hooked again. Now I find that longer trips on the VT750 has made me look for something more comfertable. I have my eye on a 1998 Vt1100 Tourer. Does anyone have any comments on what to be carefull of other than the general condition of the bike?

    What I found to be one of the limiting factors is the width of the tire when it's stuffed into the fender. Pull your rear wheel and look up into the top of the fender. You'll see that it has a a sharp radius (not Good) also some protruding bolts that limit the width at the point where the tread meets the sidewall. That's why I wanted to test things with some old tires before mounting a new tire. I think I was looking at the goodyeay triple tread, but, I don't recall sizes off the top of my head.

    No, I wasn't able to find any used tires in the sizes I wanted to try before buying a new CT to run. The manager of a local tire shop is supposed to put a few aside for me when he comes across them. I haven't given up on the idea yet.

    Thanks for the info. Is there a specific tire you like? What I have been looking at the Turanza 195/60R16. The specs look the closest to a 170/70R16 except the rim width. However, I like the looks of the 195/60R16 Blizzak WS60.
